It's always a great idea to ask your kids what to do. They way they'll put up with the stuff they find boring to get to what they wanna do.

Great topic! One thing I would add when travelling with kids is to travel at a slower pace. Don't pack your itinerary full. This way when you pass a park you will have time to stop and let the kids play for a while before continuing on. Kids need some down time and we found that allowing for this helped everyone to get along better.

Great Video Jocelyn!! This is exactly what information I needed, and would love to see more like this. When we travel, We’re more interested in the outdoor spaces rather than the museums or the fun-parks aimed at tourists; Because my boys don’t do lines or big crowds well (two of them have autism), yet they love to explore tactile places they can climb or play – and we as parents are most likely going to remember that place or that park that brought them joy and a sense of fun and adventure. This is great advice to start making a list! We’ve actually never been outside Australia, so some of these places look exciting!

Great tips! We've never travelled with our children aged 9 and 7 because my husband and I tend to do things that wouldn't interest them. Mind you, we always make certain that they get a holiday geared towards them, but it's within driving distance (a couple of hours from home) this way they don't feel left out of having fun. We're contemplating going further away next summer (2020) with them and seeing what we can do with them. Hopefully, we can take these tips and put some of them into practice for a fun filled family getaway.

Really helpful advice for family travels! Our daughter loved travelling in Italy when she was 10 and I still remember her excitement in seeing a painting in Florence that she’d previously seen in a book. She also loved visiting New York and we would book a couple of Broadway shows, take in a couple of museums and explore the city by subway and on foot. And Central Park is a perfect place for kids to run around and climb and burn off some energy. She’s a young adult now and is a keen traveller – she’s visiting Berlin, Prague and Poland right now!

Travelled with my kids last fall, and planning and researching together was half of the fun of the trip. They got to see a list of things that was in the place we went to, and then we chose one thing per day. Was a great time!
